In Person Please

On a cave wall I etch from me take you
smoke signals in a sky of blue
homing pigeons with word to flight
bird calls in dark of night
dots, dashes borrowed from Morse
neither rain nor heat nor gloom of night, of course
Brown Beauties midnight ride
the grapevine, though I chide
fresh new ink, read it here
clarity for you my dear
a stroke of the quill, the brush, the key
cursive, email, facebook, tweet
whats App, text or
read
say anything please
Alexander Graham Bell rings out
your voice fells me to my knees
communication is what it’s about
but of all these possibilities
it’s your real life smile,
your touch
I crave
in person please.
