Dreary weekend weather is what it was. Fog, high humidity, warm and muggy, little to no sunshine with barely a breeze to push it all away. Not what I expect when I think about the first holiday weekend of Autumn. Rain, sometimes yes, but usually there’s a slight crisp to the air. I would’ve preferred a refreshing coolness, however, no one seemed to be taking orders at the weather window.
I was hosting a puny pity party for myself because I couldn’t go hiking in the mountains. I really look forward to the mountain air, spending time with treasured friends, the invigorating hiking elevations, breathtaking views and of course, the colorful foliage.
You knew this was coming.
But first, just briefly, allow me to share with you my excitement about my new shoes. They are minimalist shoes. I purchased them only yesterday for a bare minimum upward of a hundred bucks. It’s a ‘thing’ you know. Minimalism. Well, let’s not get too far into that now because I don’t want to brag at how good I am at this ‘thing’. Let’s suffice to say that I have Less than the best of ’em. Less is More. So I have More. Long and well practiced, I’ve achieved a level of dedication and skill approaching that of the masters. You’re not suppose to compete at this ‘thing’ either. Defeats the purpose. Just sayin’.
I love my new shoes, what there is of them. We went for our first walk today, a dreary one no matter how we looked at it. We set out because we were in our heads and wanted to get out of our heads and into our hearts. We also thought there was a remote chance that we may happen upon a bit of color, foliage if you will. Unlike the north country, we lag behind when it comes the big bowl of Trix. In fact we don’t ever get the full box because we’re so flat. More like a cookie sheet of Trix. Today we had to look very closely to see even the minimum of color, foliage if you will. Unlike the north country, we lag behind when it comes the big bowl of Trix. In fact we don’t ever get the full box because we’re so flat. More like a cookie sheet of Trix. Today we had to look very closely to see even the minimum of color.
But once we did, Viola!
There it was, hidden underneath and behind and underlaying and overlaying what seemed to be just ordinary, weary plants waiting for the long sleep.
I’ll share a few of the photos that Cameron captured. It surprised me how much one can find in the details.
Upon my return, I found myself, my shoes and Cameron at Hazard Rock. And there is where I found more concealed color, the fog, the rain, the sea, a few fishermen and a more than a fair enough portion of my heart.
Did I find my way out of my head?
You guessed it.
I’ve always been out of my head.
It’s always just been a matter of over who.♡
I’ve little interest in naming my shoes.
